How to choose a coupling

When selecting a coupling type, the following factors should be considered:

The magnitude and nature of the torque to be transmitted, the requirements for buffering and vibration damping, and the possibility of resonance.

The degree of relative displacement between the two shaft axes caused by manufacturing and assembly errors, shaft loads and thermal expansion deformation, and relative movement between components.

The permissible dimensions and installation method, and the necessary operating space for easy assembly, adjustment, and maintenance. For large couplings, disassembly and assembly should be possible without requiring axial movement of the shaft.

Furthermore, the working environment, service life, lubrication, sealing, and economic factors should be considered, along with the characteristics of various couplings, to select a suitable coupling type.
