Plum Blossom Coupling
Plum blossom coupling, also called a jaw coupling, puts an elastomeric spider between two metal hubs. Plum Blossom Coupling gives you zero backlash, high torque in a small package, and good misalignment handling. That's why it works well for servo motors and other precision control jobs.
Product Introduction
The Plum Blossom Coupling consists of two metal hubs with protruding jaws and a plum-shaped polyurethane elastomer. Torque is transmitted through the engagement of the jaws with the elastomer, which also accommodates installation misalignments. The hubs are available in 45# steel or aluminum alloy, while the elastomer is made of high-strength polyurethane-offering wear and oil resistance, excellent vibration damping, and electrical insulation. Featuring a compact, lubrication-free design, it is ideal for medium-to-high-speed drive applications involving frequent starts and reversals.Plum Blossom Couplings are widely used in metallurgy, mining, petroleum, and chemical industries, as well as in various pump and fan systems.

Materials and Manufacturing Processes
Metal Jaws
The metal jaws are generally made of 45# steel, providing the strength required for continuous torque transmission. Aluminum alloy is available for applications where lower weight is preferred, while stainless steel can be selected for environments requiring higher corrosion resistance.
Spider Element
The flexible spider is made of high-strength polyurethane. It offers good wear and oil resistance while helping absorb vibration and reduce shock during operation. The material also provides electrical insulation. Under normal operating conditions, the service life can reach up to 10 years.
Machining & Surface Treatment
The metal jaws are precision-machined and heat-treated to improve mechanical strength and dimensional stability. After machining, the surface is treated with black oxide for a uniform finish and improved surface protection.
