Working characteristics of rolling mill rolls

During operation, the rolls can withstand significant rolling pressure and torque, and sometimes dynamic loads, such as the large inertial forces and impacts experienced by the rolls during primary rolling mill operation.

They can operate under high temperatures or conditions with large temperature variations. Due to the high temperature of the workpiece and the presence of cooling water, the rotating rolls experience alternating hot and cold temperatures, gradually leading to cracking and fissures under alternating stress. Under cold rolling conditions, the rolls are subjected to contact stress and high cold rolling pressure, making the working conditions extremely demanding.

Because the rolls are continuously worn during the rolling process, this directly affects the quality of the rolled workpiece and also shortens the roll life.
